The P21/5W is the most frequently specified bulb across the front turn signal positions, covering the 2015-2019 model years. It is a dual-filament bulb rated at 12V with a 21W main filament and a 5W secondary filament, mounted on a BAY15d bayonet base.
The P21W appears in the rear turn signal position for the 2015-2018 model years. Unlike the P21/5W, it carries a single filament rated at 12V and 21W, and it uses a BA15s bayonet base.
The BAY15d base of the P21/5W and the BA15s base of the P21W are physically distinct and not interchangeable, despite both being bayonet-style fittings. Substituting one for the other is not compatible with the socket design.
For the 2020 model year, both the front and rear turn signal positions of the Yamaha XC155 SMAX share the same bulb type: the ANSI 232. This is a festoon-style bulb with an SV8.5 base, rated at 12V and 3W.
The 2020 model year represents a significant departure from prior specifications. The 232 festoon bulb operates at only 3W, compared to the 21W output of the ECE bulbs used in earlier model years, reflecting a fundamentally different lamp design.
