Yamaha FZ-09 front turn signal bulbs use a 7443 size, while rear turn signal bulbs use a 7440 size. The replacement chart covers 2014 to 2017 model years with corresponding bulb size specifications.
The year-by-year compatibility chart below provides a quick reference to verify the correct bulb size for your vehicle.
The Yamaha FZ-09 uses two distinct bulb types across its turn signal positions for the 2014-2017 model years: the 7443 at the front and the 7440 at the rear.
Both the 7443 and 7440 are ANSI standardized bulbs applicable to the US and Canadian markets, sharing the T20 wedge form factor and a 12V operating voltage.
The 7443 is a dual-filament bulb rated at 21W and 5W, with the higher wattage filament serving the turn signal function and the lower wattage filament typically serving a secondary function such as a running or parking light.
The 7440 is a single-filament bulb rated at 21W, dedicated solely to turn signal operation with no secondary lighting filament.
Although the 7443 and 7440 share the same T20 wedge base and physical housing, they are not interchangeable. Installing a 7440 in place of a 7443 would result in the loss of the secondary filament function at the front position.
The reverse substitution, placing a 7443 where a 7440 is specified at the rear, may fit physically but introduces an unused filament that the rear socket is not wired to activate.
