The Volkswagen Touareg side marker utilizes a unique 12961 bulb size for the lighting components located on the exterior of the vehicle. The provided data covers a range from 2004 to 2010 for the specified automotive lighting application.
The year-by-year compatibility chart below provides a quick reference to verify the correct bulb size for your vehicle.
The Volkswagen Touareg uses the 12961 bulb for its front side marker across the 2004-2010 model years.
The 12961 is a Philips part number designating a miniature wedge bulb in the T10 form factor.
T10 refers to the bulb's tubular shape, with the number indicating a width of 10 millimeters.
The 12961 operates at 12 volts and 5 watts, which is standard for low-current automotive marker lighting applications.
The base type on the 12961 is W2.1x9.5d, a wedge-style base that relies on tension from the socket rather than a locking mechanism to hold the bulb in place.
The W2.1x9.5d base designation is specific to wedge bulbs and is not interchangeable with bayonet or festoon base types.
Because the 12961 is a manufacturer-specific part number from Philips, equivalent bulbs from other brands must share the T10 form factor and W2.1x9.5d base to be considered compatible replacements.
