The Saab 9-3X headlight bulb specifications include D1S and H7 sizes for high beam applications and D1S and H11 sizes for low beam applications. The replacement chart covers 2010 to 2011 model years with corresponding bulb size data.
The year-by-year compatibility chart below provides a quick reference to verify the correct bulb size for your vehicle.
The Saab 9-3X (2010-2011) was offered with two distinct headlamp system types: HID (high-intensity discharge) and halogen capsule. Each system uses a different set of bulb sizes, and the two systems are not interchangeable.
The D1S bulb serves as both the high beam and low beam source in the HID headlamp configuration of the 9-3X. This dual-function role is characteristic of projector-type housings, which use a single discharge bulb per housing with a mechanical shield to switch between beam patterns.
The D1S operates at 85V and 35W and uses a PK32d-2 base with an integral ignitor. The ignitor is built directly into the bulb body, meaning the bulb and ignitor are replaced as a single unit rather than separately.
In the halogen configuration, the high beam and low beam positions use different bulb types. The high beam position takes an H7, while the low beam position takes an H11. These two bulbs have different base types and are not physically interchangeable with each other.
The H7 uses a PX26d base and operates at 12V and 55W. It is a single-filament bulb, meaning it produces one light output level with no switchable filament inside the glass envelope.
The H11 uses a PGJ19-2 base and also operates at 12V and 55W. Although the H7 and H11 share the same voltage and wattage ratings, their base types differ, which prevents cross-fitting between the two positions.
All three bulb types specified for the 9-3X (D1S, H7, and H11) conform to ECE standards, which govern bulb performance and safety requirements across Europe and many other markets worldwide. The H7 and H11 also carry approval for use in the United States.
