Ram 4500 high beam and low beam headlight bulbs use sizes 9005, 9008, H11, and 9012 depending on configuration. Replacement chart covers 2011 through 2018 model years with bulb size specifications.
The year-by-year compatibility chart below provides a quick reference to verify the correct bulb size for your vehicle.
The H11 bulb is the most frequently specified type across the Ram 4500 headlight data, appearing as the low beam bulb for non-projector headlamp configurations from 2011 through 2018 and for four-headlamp configurations in 2011 and 2012. H11 is a single-filament halogen bulb operating at 55 watts with a PGJ19-2 base, designed exclusively for low beam or fog light applications.
The 9005 bulb appears across the widest range of model years in the high beam position, covering 2013 through 2018 without condition, and also serving four-headlamp configurations in 2011 and 2012. It is a single-filament halogen bulb rated at 65 watts with an SB base, standardized under the HB3 designation.
The 9008 bulb, also known as H13, is a dual-filament halogen bulb that serves both high and low beam functions from a single unit. In the Ram 4500 (2011-2012), it is specified for both the high beam and low beam positions exclusively on two-headlamp configurations, meaning a single bulb per side handles both functions.
The 9012 bulb is specified for low beam use in projector-type headlamp configurations from 2013 through 2015. It is physically interchangeable with the 9006 bulb in terms of socket fit but is rated at 55 watts rather than the 9006's 51 watts, and the two are not considered electrically equivalent replacements.
In 2016-2018, projector-type headlamp configurations shifted the low beam specification from 9012 to 9005. Since 9005 is already the designated high beam bulb for those years, both beam functions on projector-equipped vehicles draw from the same bulb type, though each function uses a separate dedicated bulb.
The Ram 4500 (2011-2012) presents a split fitment based on headlamp count. Two-headlamp configurations use the dual-filament 9008 for both high and low beams, while four-headlamp configurations use the single-filament 9005 for high beams and H11 for low beams. Substituting one configuration's bulbs into the other is not supported by the specifications.
Projector-type headlamp configurations on the Ram 4500 carry distinct low beam bulb requirements compared to non-projector configurations across 2013-2018. Using a bulb specified for a non-projector setup in a projector housing, or vice versa, falls outside the stated fitment parameters.
The 9005 bulb's role expands across the 2013-2018 range. From 2013 through 2015, it is limited to the high beam position, while from 2016 through 2018 it also covers the low beam in projector-type headlamp configurations. Despite this dual-position use, the 9005 remains a single-filament bulb and does not combine both functions in one unit.
