The Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG uses H7, D1S, and D2S bulb sizes for high and low beam headlight applications. The replacement chart covers 2007 to 2015 model years with corresponding bulb size specifications.
The year-by-year compatibility chart below provides a quick reference to verify the correct bulb size for your vehicle.
The H7 is a single-filament halogen bulb operating at 12V and 55W, fitted with a PX26d base. It follows the ECE standard and holds approval for use in Europe, worldwide markets, the United States, and Japan. In the Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG, the H7 serves as the high beam bulb for the 2014-2015 model years, and as both the high and low beam bulb for the 2007 model year in halogen-equipped configurations.
The D1S is an HID xenon discharge bulb rated at 85V and 35W, using a PK32d-2 base. A defining characteristic of the D1S is its integral ignitor, which is built directly into the bulb body. It is designed exclusively for projector-type housings and conforms to the ECE standard.
The D2S shares the same 85V, 35W electrical rating as the D1S and is also intended for projector-type housings, but it uses a P32d-2 base and requires a separate, external ignitor rather than an integrated one. This distinction makes the D1S and D2S physically and electrically non-interchangeable despite their similar output ratings.
For the 2008-2013 model years of the Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG, both the high beam and low beam positions accommodate either a D1S or an H7 bulb, depending on whether the vehicle was equipped with HID headlamps or halogen capsule headlamps at the time of manufacture.
The 2007 model year presents a unique fitment split for the low beam position specifically: halogen-equipped vehicles use the H7, while HID-equipped vehicles use the D2S. This makes 2007 the only model year in these specifications where the D2S is referenced.
Because the D1S incorporates an integral ignitor and the D2S relies on an external ignitor, substituting one for the other in a given headlamp housing is not supported by these specifications, even though both bulbs share identical wattage and voltage ratings.
The high beam position for 2014-2015 lists only the H7, with no HID variant noted, indicating those model years were fitted solely with halogen high beam bulbs regardless of headlamp type.
