Mercedes-Benz C43 AMG headlight bulbs use H7, H1, and D2R sizes depending on beam type and model generation. The replacement bulb size chart covers 1998 through 2019 production years.
The year-by-year compatibility chart below provides a quick reference to verify the correct bulb size for your vehicle.
The H7 bulb is the most frequently specified type across these specifications, appearing in both high beam and low beam positions for the 2017-2019 model years, as well as in the low beam position for the 1998-2000 model years when equipped with halogen capsule headlamps.
The H7 is a single-filament halogen bulb with a PX26d base, operating at 55 watts on a 12-volt system. Its single-filament design means it serves one lighting function per bulb, which is why it appears separately in both the high beam and low beam positions on the 2017-2019 Mercedes-Benz C43 AMG.
The H1 bulb is specified exclusively for the high beam position on the 1998-2000 model years. Like the H7, the H1 is a single-filament halogen bulb, but it uses a P14.5s single-pin base, making it physically incompatible with H7 sockets despite both being halogen types.
The D2R is specified for the low beam position on the 1998-2000 model years when equipped with HID headlamps. The D2R is a high-intensity discharge bulb designed specifically for projector-style housings, where an internal reflector coating controls light distribution to reduce glare.
The 1998-2000 model years present a dual-fitment condition for the low beam position. The H7 and D2R are not interchangeable, as each corresponds to a distinct headlamp system installed at the time of manufacture, halogen capsule or HID respectively.
The high beam position on the 1998-2000 model years uses the H1 bulb regardless of whether the vehicle was fitted with halogen or HID low beam headlamps, indicating the high beam circuit remained halogen-only across both headlamp configurations during that period.
The transition from H1 to H7 in the high beam position between the 2000 and 2017 model years reflects a change in bulb socket type, and the two bulb types are not interchangeable due to differing base designs.
