Land Rover LR4 headlight bulbs utilize D3S, H7, and H11 sizes depending on beam type and production specifications. The replacement chart covers 2010 through 2016 model years with corresponding bulb size data.
The year-by-year compatibility chart below provides a quick reference to verify the correct bulb size for your vehicle.
ECE standard (Europe & worldwide). Mercury-free HID (xenon) discharge bulb with PK32d-5 base and integral ignitor, for projector-type housings. 42V, 35W.
The D3S is an HID (xenon) discharge bulb rated at 42V and 35W. It operates on a fundamentally different electrical principle than halogen bulbs, producing light through an electrical arc between tungsten electrodes within a xenon gas-filled quartz capsule rather than through filament resistance. It carries a PK32d-5 base with an integral ignitor and is designed exclusively for projector-type housings. Its mercury-free construction reflects compliance with environmental regulations under the ECE standard.
The H7 and H11 are both single-filament halogen bulbs rated at 12V and 55W, though they use different base types. The H7 uses a PX26d base, while the H11 uses a PGJ19-2 base. Despite sharing the same voltage and wattage ratings, these two bulbs are not interchangeable due to their physically distinct bases and connector configurations.
The Land Rover LR4 carried two parallel headlamp system options across the 2010-2016 model years: HID headlamps using the D3S bulb and halogen capsule headlamps using H7 for high beam and H11 for low beam. The correct bulb for any given vehicle depends entirely on which headlamp system was installed at the factory.
The D3S bulb's integral ignitor is a notable fitment consideration. Because the ignitor is built into the bulb itself rather than housed separately in the vehicle's ballast assembly, the D3S is not compatible with HID conversion kits or ballasts designed for bulbs with external ignitors.
For the low beam position in 2012, 2014, and certain 2010-2011 configurations, the specifications list both an H7 halogen entry and an H11 halogen capsule entry as separate fitments. These represent distinct trim or equipment variants rather than interchangeable options within the same vehicle configuration.
All three bulb types in these specifications, the D3S, H7, and H11, are produced to the ECE standard, which governs light output, beam pattern, and safety requirements across European and worldwide markets. The H7 and H11 also carry approval in the United States, while the D3S is governed solely by ECE regulations.
