Land Rover LR3 headlight bulbs utilize H7 size for high beam operation and H7, D1S, or D2S sizes for low beam functions. The replacement chart covers 2005 through 2009 model years with corresponding bulb size specifications.
The year-by-year compatibility chart below provides a quick reference to verify the correct bulb size for your vehicle.
The H7 bulb is the most widely used type across the Land Rover LR3 headlight specifications, appearing in both the high beam and low beam positions for all model years from 2005-2009. It is a single-filament halogen bulb rated at 12V and 55W, fitted with a PX26d base, and carries ECE certification with approval also extended to the United States and Japan.
The high beam headlight position uses the H7 bulb exclusively across all five model years covered in the specifications, with no HID variant listed for that function.
The low beam headlight position on the Land Rover LR3 accommodates two distinct bulb types depending on the headlamp system installed. Vehicles without HID headlamps use the H7 halogen bulb, while vehicles equipped with HID headlamps use a discharge bulb, either D1S or D2S depending on the model year.
The D2S bulb applies to the low beam HID configuration for the 2005-2007 model years. It operates at 85V and 35W, uses a P32d-2 base, and requires a separate external ignitor to initiate the arc discharge. It is designed for projector-type headlamp housings.
The D1S bulb applies to the low beam HID configuration for the 2008-2009 model years. It shares the same 85V and 35W operating ratings as the D2S but uses a PK32d-2 base and incorporates an integral ignitor within the bulb itself, eliminating the need for a separate external unit.
The base types of the D1S and D2S are not interchangeable. The PK32d-2 base of the D1S and the P32d-2 base of the D2S are physically distinct, and substituting one for the other is not supported by the specifications.
Both D1S and D2S are ECE-standard HID discharge bulbs that produce light through a xenon arc rather than a heated filament, which accounts for their significantly lower wattage relative to the voltage at which they operate.
Although the H7 and the HID bulbs share the same low beam function, they are not interchangeable. Each type is associated with a different headlamp housing design, and the HID variants are specified only for vehicles confirmed to have HID headlamps installed.
