• The 12496 is a halogen bulb operating at 12V, designated under Philips and Osram part numbering for specialty applications. The PY21W is an ECE-standardized single-filament amber bulb rated at 12V and 21W, fitted with a BAU15s offset bayonet base. Both types appear across the turn signal positions of the Kawasaki ZG1400 Concours depending on the model year.
• The BAU15s base on the PY21W features offset pins, which physically prevent it from being seated in sockets designed for the more common BA15s straight-pin base. This offset design is an intentional anti-misfit feature used in amber turn signal applications to ensure correct bulb installation.
• The front turn signal on the ZG1400 Concours uses the 12496 bulb for the 2008-2009, 2012-2014, and 2017-2020 model years, while the PY21W is specified for 2010-2011, 2015, and 2016.
