Jaguar XF high beam headlight bulbs use 9012, D3S, or H7 sizes, while low beam headlight bulbs use D3S, D1S, or H11 sizes. The replacement bulb size chart covers 2009 to 2021 production years.
The year-by-year compatibility chart below provides a quick reference to verify the correct bulb size for your vehicle.
ECE standard (Europe & worldwide). Mercury-free HID (xenon) discharge bulb with PK32d-5 base and integral ignitor, for projector-type housings. 42V, 35W.
The D3S bulb is the most widely used type across the Jaguar XF headlight specifications, appearing in both high beam and low beam positions across multiple model years. It is a mercury-free HID (xenon) discharge bulb operating at 42V and 35W, fitted with a PK32d-5 base and an integral ignitor, and is designed exclusively for projector-type housings.
The D1S bulb serves as the low beam HID option in the 2009-2011 XF on vehicles equipped with HID headlamps. It operates at a significantly higher voltage of 85V compared to the D3S, though both share the same 35W wattage. The D1S uses a PK32d-2 base, which is physically incompatible with the PK32d-5 base of the D3S, making the two types non-interchangeable.
The 2021 Jaguar XF uses a 9012 bulb for the high beam position. The 9012 is an ANSI-standard single-filament enhanced halogen bulb with a PX22d base, rated at 12V and 55W, and is specific to the US and Canadian markets.
The H7 bulb is listed for the high beam position on the 2009-2011 XF, as well as for certain 2012 and 2013 configurations. It is a single-filament halogen bulb with a PX26d base, rated at 12V and 55W, and holds ECE approval as well as approval in the US and Japan.
The H11 bulb appears in the low beam position for the 2009-2011 XF on vehicles fitted with halogen capsule headlamps. It is a single-filament halogen bulb with a PGJ19-2 base, rated at 12V and 55W. Its base type differs from that of the H7, and the two are not interchangeable despite sharing the same voltage and wattage ratings.
The 2012 and 2013 XF each carry two separate high beam bulb listings, reflecting different headlamp system configurations available in those years. The D3S applies to one configuration, while the H7 applies to vehicles specified with HID headlamps in those years.
Similarly, the low beam position for the 2012 and 2013 XF also carries dual listings. The D3S is listed alongside the D1S for vehicles with HID headlamps, indicating that two distinct HID bulb types were used in low beam applications depending on the specific headlamp assembly fitted.
The 2009-2011 XF low beam position reflects a split between halogen and HID systems. The H11 applies to halogen capsule headlamp configurations, while the D1S applies to HID configurations. These two bulb types operate on fundamentally different electrical and optical principles and are not substitutable for one another.
The D3S and D1S are both HID discharge bulbs with integral ignitors designed for projector-type housings, but their differing base types and operating voltages mean they serve distinct headlamp assemblies. Substituting one for the other is not supported by the specifications.
From 2015 onward through 2019, the XF high beam and low beam positions both list the D3S exclusively, without the conditional headlamp-type qualifiers present in earlier years, indicating a standardization around a single HID bulb type for those model years.
