Hyundai Elantra N front and rear turn signal bulbs use PY21W and 921 sizes for replacement. The chart covers 2023 to 2024 model years with bulb size specifications.
The year-by-year compatibility chart below provides a quick reference to verify the correct bulb size for your vehicle.
The PY21W is an ECE-standard single-filament amber bulb operating at 12V and 21W, fitted with a BAU15s bayonet base. Its amber glass envelope means the bulb itself produces colored light without relying on a tinted lens.
The 921 is an ANSI-standard T15 wedge bulb rated at 12V and 16W. It is common in North American vehicle applications and produces clear light, with amber color typically provided by the surrounding lens or housing.
The BAU15s base of the PY21W has an offset pin arrangement that distinguishes it from the more common BA15s base. This offset prevents incorrect installation of a non-amber bulb in a socket designed for the PY21W.
The 921 wedge base and the PY21W BAU15s bayonet base are physically incompatible with each other, meaning the two bulb types are not interchangeable despite sharing the same 12V operating voltage.
The Hyundai Elantra N uses PY21W bulbs for both the front and rear turn signals across the 2023-2024 model years, with one exception: the 2023 rear turn signal uses the 921 instead.
The rear turn signal socket specification changed between the 2023 and 2024 Elantra N, shifting from the ANSI-standard 921 wedge to the ECE-standard PY21W bayonet type. Installing a 921 in a 2024 rear socket, or a PY21W in a 2023 rear socket, would not be a direct fit.
