Honda Pilot headlight bulbs use 9005, 9003, and H11 sizes depending on beam type and model year. The replacement bulb size chart covers 2003 to 2021 production years.
The year-by-year compatibility chart below provides a quick reference to verify the correct bulb size for your vehicle.
The Honda Pilot uses three distinct halogen bulb types across its headlight specifications: the 9005, the 9003, and the H11.
The 9005 is a single-filament halogen bulb operating at 12V and 65W, built to the ANSI standard used in the United States and Canada, and fitted with a P20d base.
The 9003 is a dual-filament halogen bulb operating at 12V with a high beam output of 60W and a low beam output of 55W, also built to the ANSI standard, and fitted with a P43t base.
The H11 is a single-filament halogen bulb operating at 12V and 55W, built to the ECE standard used in Europe and worldwide, fitted with a PGJ19-2 base, and also approved for use in the United States.
The 9003 serves both the high beam and low beam functions within a single dual-filament bulb, which is why the Honda Pilot (2003-2005) uses the same bulb size for both positions.
From 2006 onward, the Pilot separates the high beam and low beam into dedicated single-filament bulbs, with the 9005 assigned to the high beam position across 2006-2021 and the H11 assigned to the low beam position across 2006-2018.
The 9005 and H11 are not interchangeable despite both being single-filament 12V halogen bulbs; they differ in wattage, base type, and the standards under which they are rated.
The 9003 and 9005 share the same ANSI standard origin but are not interchangeable, as the 9003 carries dual filaments with a P43t base while the 9005 carries a single filament with a P20d base.
For the 2016-2018 model years, the H11 low beam fitment is specifically noted as applying to vehicles equipped with halogen capsule headlamps, indicating that not all units of those years share the same low beam bulb type.
The 2021 Pilot uses the 9005 for both the high beam and low beam positions, making it the only model year in the specifications where a single bulb type covers both headlight functions outside of the 9003-equipped years.
