• The 1157 bulb is the tail light specification for the Honda Passport across the 1994-2002 model years. It is a dual-filament bulb with a BAY15d bayonet base, rated at 12V with a 21W high filament and a 5W low filament. The dual-filament design allows a single bulb to serve two lighting functions, typically combining stop and tail light operation in one unit.
• The 7440 bulb is specified for the 2023-2024 Passport tail lights. Unlike the 1157, it is a single-filament wedge bulb in the T20 form factor, rated at 12V and 21W. The T20 wedge base differs fundamentally from the BAY15d bayonet base of the 1157, making the two bulb types physically incompatible with each other.
• The 2021 Passport uses the 7440NA, which shares the same T20 wedge form factor, 12V rating, and 21W output as the standard 7440. The distinction is that the 7440NA features natural amber glass, which filters the light output to produce an amber color without relying on the vehicle's housing or lens to do so.
