Ford Prefect high and low beam headlight bulbs utilize H6024 and H6006 bulb sizes for optimal illumination. The replacement chart covers 1950 to 1957 production years with corresponding bulb size specifications.
The year-by-year compatibility chart below provides a quick reference to verify the correct bulb size for your vehicle.
The Ford Prefect uses two distinct sealed beam unit types across its 1950-1957 model years: the H6006 and the H6024, both operating at 12 volts and conforming to ANSI standards recognized in the United States and Canada.
The H6006 is a 5x7-inch rectangular sealed beam unit. Like all sealed beam designs, the entire unit is replaced when the light fails, as the lens, reflector, and filament are fused into a single assembly with no serviceable internal bulb.
The H6024 is a 7-inch round sealed beam unit, also requiring full unit replacement rather than bulb replacement. It shares the same 12-volt operating voltage as the H6006.
The Ford Prefect (1950-1955) uses the H6006 for both high beam and low beam headlights. The rectangular form factor of the H6006 distinguishes it physically from the round H6024 used in later model years.
For the 1956-1957 model years, both the high beam and low beam headlight positions use the H6024, a round sealed beam unit, representing a change from the rectangular H6006 used in prior years.
Because the H6006 and H6024 differ in shape, one unit cannot substitute for the other. The rectangular and round housings are not interchangeable, and fitting the incorrect unit would require modification to the vehicle's headlight housing.
