Dodge Caravan high beam and low beam headlight bulbs utilize 9007, 9004, or H6054 bulb sizes depending on model generation. The replacement chart covers vehicle production years spanning 1984 through 2007 with corresponding bulb size specifications.
The year-by-year compatibility chart below provides a quick reference to verify the correct bulb size for your vehicle.
The 9007 bulb is the most widely used type across the Dodge Caravan headlight specifications, covering both high and low beam positions for the 1996-2007 model years. It is a dual-filament halogen bulb with a PX29t base, rated at 12V with 65W on the high beam filament and 55W on the low beam filament.
The 9004 bulb shares the same dual-filament halogen design as the 9007 but uses a P29t base and draws less power on the low beam filament, rated at 65W/45W rather than 65W/55W. It serves both high and low beam positions on the Dodge Caravan for the 1993-1995 model years, as well as on 1987-1988 vehicles equipped with halogen capsule headlamps.
Both the 9007 and 9004 are ANSI-standardized bulbs for the US and Canadian markets. Despite their similar appearance and shared dual-filament function, the two types use different base configurations and are not interchangeable with each other.
The 1984-1988 Dodge Caravan models with sealed beam headlamps use H-series rectangular units rather than replaceable bulbs. In a sealed beam system, the lens, reflector, and filament form a single unit, meaning the entire assembly is replaced rather than just an internal bulb.
The high beam and low beam positions on sealed beam-equipped Caravans use different H-series part numbers. On 1984 models, for example, the high beam position takes an H4651 unit while the low beam position takes an H4652, which is a variant of the H4651 within the same 4x6-inch rectangular format.
The 1988 model year presents two distinct headlamp configurations: halogen capsule headlamps using the 9004 bulb, and sealed beam headlamps using the H6054 for the high beam position. The H6054 is a 5x7-inch rectangular sealed beam unit, making it physically larger than the 4x6-inch H4651 and H4656 units used in other years.
On 1987 models with sealed beam headlamps, the high beam position uses the H4651 and the low beam position uses the H4656, both of which are 4x6-inch rectangular sealed beam units. These two part numbers occupy the same physical format but are designated separately by beam position and are not considered interchangeable.
