• The 9005 and 9006 bulbs are the most frequently specified types across the Chevrolet Monte Carlo headlight data, covering high beam and low beam positions respectively for the 1995-2005 model years. Both follow the ANSI standard used in the US and Canada, operate at 12V, and use single-filament halogen technology, with the 9005 rated at 65W and the 9006 at 55W.
• For the 2006-2007 Monte Carlo, the high beam position shifted to the H9 and the low beam to the H11, both ECE-standard halogen bulbs that carry US approval. The H9 operates at 65W and the H11 at 55W, mirroring the wattage relationship of the 9005 and 9006 they replaced, though the two sets use different base types and are not interchangeable with each other.
• The 9004 is a dual-filament halogen bulb rated at 65W for high beam and 45W for low beam within a single unit, and it served both beam functions simultaneously in the 1986-1988 Monte Carlo equipped with halogen capsule headlamps. Its P29t base is distinct from the single-filament 9005 and 9006 bases, making cross-substitution between these types incompatible.
• The 1986-1988 Monte Carlo carried two distinct headlamp system options: halogen capsule headlamps using the 9004 bulb, and sealed beam headlamps requiring separate H4651-series units for high beam and H4652 or H4656 units for low beam. These two systems are not interchangeable, as they represent fundamentally different headlamp assemblies.
• The H4651, H4652, and H4656 are all 4x6-inch rectangular sealed beam units following the ANSI standard. • The H6054 is a 5x7-inch rectangular sealed beam unit specified for the 1978-1979 Monte Carlo in both high and low beam positions. Its larger physical format distinguishes it from the 4x6-inch H4651-series units used in surrounding model years, and the two sealed beam sizes are not physically interchangeable.
• The H6024 is a 7-inch round sealed beam unit specified for the 1970-1975 Monte Carlo across both beam positions. Like all sealed beam types in these specifications, it operates at 12V and is replaced as a complete unit rather than by an internal component.
• The 9005 and H9 share a 65W rating and single-filament design but use different base connectors, P20d and PGJ19-5 respectively, which prevents direct substitution between them.
