Can-Am Outlander headlight bulbs utilize 9005 and HS1 sizes for high beam applications, while low beam configurations require H11 and HS1 bulb sizes. The replacement chart covers 2007 through 2019 model years with corresponding bulb size specifications.
The year-by-year compatibility chart below provides a quick reference to verify the correct bulb size for your vehicle.
The HS1 bulb is the only type in these specifications that carries a dual-filament design, rated at 12V with 35W per filament. Its PX43t base and ECE certification reflect its origins as a motorcycle lighting standard, which explains its presence in the Can-Am Outlander, a powersports vehicle rather than a conventional automobile.
For the 2007-2012 Outlander, the HS1 bulb serves both the high beam and low beam positions simultaneously. Because a single HS1 unit contains both filaments, one bulb handles the full headlight function on each side of the vehicle during those model years.
From 2013 onward, the Outlander moved to separate bulb types for each beam function. The high beam position uses the 9005, while the low beam position uses the H11, meaning the two functions are handled by physically distinct bulbs with incompatible bases.
The 9005 operates at 65W, and the H11 operates at 55W. Both are single-filament halogen bulbs running on a 12V system, but their bases differ: the 9005 uses a P20d base, while the H11 uses a PGJ19-2 base. These bases are not interchangeable.
The HS1 and the 9005 are governed by different regulatory standards. The HS1 follows ECE regulations used in Europe and internationally, while the 9005 follows the ANSI standard used in the United States and Canada. The H11, though an ECE-standard bulb, also carries approval for use in the US market.
Because the 9005 and H11 have different base types and wattage ratings, neither can serve as a substitute for the other, even though both appear in the same vehicle from 2013-2019.
