BMW Motorcycle F650CS headlight bulbs utilize H3 size for high beam and H1 size for low beam applications. The replacement chart covers 2001 through 2006 production years with corresponding bulb size specifications.
The year-by-year compatibility chart below provides a quick reference to verify the correct bulb size for your vehicle.
The BMW Motorcycle F650CS uses the H3 bulb for high beam headlight applications across all model years from 2001-2006.
The H3 is a single-filament halogen bulb operating at 12V and 55W, fitted with a PK22s base and manufactured to ECE standards, with approval also extended to the US and Japanese markets.
The low beam headlight on the F650CS requires an H1 bulb across the same 2001-2006 model year span.
The H1 is a single-filament halogen bulb rated at 12V and 55W, using a P14.5s base. Like the H3, it carries ECE certification and is approved for use in the US and Japan.
Although both the H1 and H3 share identical voltage and wattage ratings of 12V and 55W, their base types differ. The PK22s base of the H3 and the P14.5s base of the H1 are not interchangeable, and substituting one for the other is not possible without a physical mismatch at the socket.
The single-filament construction of both bulb types means each serves only one lighting function. This is why the F650CS uses separate bulbs for high and low beam rather than a dual-filament unit such as an H4.
